BLOCK 89 / GUIDES / GIF REPLAYS
Your whole game, as a GIF
Screenshots prove a score. Replays prove a game. Block 89 records every session and turns it into an animated GIF timelapse: your whole run, from empty grid to game over, compressed into at most fifteen seconds.
How to share a replay
- Play. No setup: recording is automatic and costs nothing while you play.
- At game over, tap Share Replay.
- The GIF is generated on the spot and goes wherever you point the share sheet: chats, social, camera roll. In the browser it downloads as a file.
What is in the file
The replay shows the grid with each piece landing, plus the live score, time and level strip. It loops forever, plays everywhere a GIF plays (which is everywhere), and carries the #Block89 tag when shared from the apps.
The 1989 detail
The encoder is written from scratch inside the game, and it writes GIF89a: the animated-GIF specification from 1989. No cloud renders your replay; your device does, in the file format of the game's namesake year. The period correctness goes all the way down.
Replays are also the best coaching tool you have: scrub your losses and find the one greedy move that started the collapse.
Play Block 89 in your browser, free and instantly. Or take it with you: App Store · Google Play.
